If you are planning to get dental implants in Singapore, you will be glad to know that a significant portion of the surgical cost can be paid using your CPF Medisave account. Medisave is the medical savings component of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) — and dental implant surgery qualifies as a claimable surgical procedure at accredited clinics.

Vera Dental is a MOH Medisave-accredited clinic in Tanjong Pagar CBD. We handle the entire Medisave claim process for our patients, so you do not need to deal with CPF paperwork yourself. This guide walks you through everything you need to know — who qualifies, how much you can claim, and exactly what to do at each stage.

Many patients are surprised to learn that their out-of-pocket cost for a dental implant can be as low as $499 after Medisave. If you have been putting off treatment because of cost concerns, Medisave can make implant surgery significantly more accessible. For a full pricing breakdown, see our dental implant cost guide.

Who Qualifies for Medisave Claims on Dental Implants?

Not every dental procedure is Medisave claimable. Dental implant surgery qualifies because it involves a surgical procedure — the placement of a titanium fixture into the jawbone. Here are the key eligibility requirements.

Medisave Eligibility Requirements

  • Citizenship: You must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident with a Medisave account
  • Sufficient balance: Your Medisave account (or your family member's) must have enough funds to cover the claim amount
  • Surgical procedure: Only the surgical component is claimable — implant fixture placement, bone grafting, and sinus lift procedures
  • Accredited clinic: The procedure must be performed at a Medisave-accredited dental clinic like Vera Dental

There is no age restriction for Medisave claims on dental implant surgery. As long as you meet the requirements above, you are eligible. Foreign patients and work pass holders without a CPF account are not eligible for Medisave claims but may explore other payment options.

How Much Can You Claim per Implant?

The Medisave claim covers the surgical component of your dental implant treatment. The amount you can claim depends on which procedures are performed during your surgery.

Each implant is individually claimable — so if you are getting two or three implants, the Medisave amounts apply per implant. This can add up to substantial savings, especially for patients needing multiple implants.

At Vera Dental, a single implant with PFM crown costs approximately $2,449. After maximising your Medisave claim, your out-of-pocket cost can be as low as $499. See our full cost breakdown for details.

Implant fixture placement $1,950
Bone graft (if required) $1,950
Sinus lift (if required) $1,950
Maximum claimable $1,950+
At Vera Dental, a single implant can cost as little as $499 out-of-pocket after maximising your Medisave claim.

Step-by-Step Guide to Claiming Medisave

From your first consultation to claim completion — here is exactly what happens at each stage.

1

Book a Consultation

Your journey starts with a consultation (from $40). Dr. Wong will perform a clinical examination, take a 3D scan of your jaw, and assess whether you need additional procedures like a bone graft or sinus lift. This appointment typically takes 30 to 45 minutes.

2

Receive Your Treatment Plan

After your assessment, you will receive a detailed, itemised treatment plan that clearly shows the total cost, which portions are Medisave claimable, and your estimated out-of-pocket amount. No guesswork — everything is laid out transparently before you commit.

3

Surgery Day

On surgery day, bring your NRIC and the completed Medisave authorisation form (we provide this during your consultation). If using a family member's Medisave, they will need to sign the form. Vera Dental handles the entire claim submission — you do not need to visit CPF.

4

Post-Surgery & Claim Processing

Follow-up visits are included in your treatment plan. The Medisave claim is submitted on your surgery day and is typically processed within two to three weeks. The approved amount is deducted directly from your Medisave account — no reimbursement process needed.

Using a Family Member's Medisave

One of the most useful aspects of the Medisave scheme is that you are not limited to your own account. Under CPF rules, immediate family members can authorise their Medisave for your dental implant surgery. This is especially helpful for younger patients who may not have built up a large Medisave balance, or for retirees whose children or siblings want to help cover the cost.

Eligible Family Members for Medisave Withdrawal

  • Spouse — husband or wife
  • Children — including adopted children
  • Parents — including step-parents and parents-in-law
  • Siblings — including step-siblings and siblings-in-law
  • Grandparents — including grandparents-in-law
  • Grandchildren — including step-grandchildren

The same claim limits apply regardless of whose Medisave account is used — up to $1,950 for the implant placement, $1,950 for bone graft, and $1,950 for sinus lift. The family member simply needs to sign the Medisave authorisation form. Our team will guide you through the paperwork during your consultation.

What Medisave Does Not Cover

While Medisave significantly reduces the financial burden of dental implant surgery, it is important to understand which components are not covered. These items are paid out-of-pocket, through dental insurance, or via CHAS subsidies if you are eligible.

Not Claimable via Medisave

  • Consultation and diagnostic fees — including 3D scans and X-rays
  • Crown / prosthetic component — the visible tooth portion (PFM or zirconia crown)
  • Abutment — the connector between implant and crown
  • Temporary crown — if a provisional restoration is placed during healing
  • Medication and antibiotics — post-surgical prescriptions

At Vera Dental, we provide a clear itemised breakdown during your consultation so you know exactly which portions are Medisave claimable and which are out-of-pocket. For CHAS cardholders, additional subsidies may apply to certain components — ask our team for details.
