A missing tooth affects more than your smile

When a tooth goes missing, the consequences go deeper than appearance. Your jawbone begins to shrink without the stimulation of a tooth root. Neighbouring teeth drift and shift. Chewing becomes difficult. Speech can change. Over time, your facial structure itself starts to alter.

Dental implants are the only tooth replacement that solves all of these problems — because they replace the entire tooth from root to crown, preserving bone, maintaining alignment, and restoring full function.

Unlike bridges that require healthy adjacent teeth to be filed down, or dentures that can slip and irritate, an implant stands independently and feels exactly like a natural tooth. It is the only option that preserves your jawbone and is built for long-term durability.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post surgically placed into your jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Over time, it fuses naturally with the bone — creating a strong, stable foundation for a custom-made crown.

01

The Crown

The visible part that looks and functions like a natural tooth. At Vera Dental, this is a PFM (porcelain-fused-to-metal) crown — custom-crafted to match your existing teeth in colour, shape, and bite.

02

The Abutment

A connector piece that sits between the crown and the implant fixture. It securely links the visible crown to the titanium post embedded in your jawbone.

03

The Implant Fixture

A biocompatible titanium screw placed into the jawbone. Through osseointegration, it fuses with living bone to create a strong, stable root — just like your natural tooth root.

How Dental Implant Treatment Works

The dental implant process at Vera Dental is designed around your comfort. Here is what to expect at each stage.

Step 1

Consultation & Scan

We examine your mouth, take digital X-rays or a 3D CBCT scan, and create a personalised treatment plan. Consultation from $40.

Step 2

Implant Placement

The titanium implant is placed into your jawbone under local anaesthesia. The procedure takes about 1 hour per implant.

Step 3

Healing & Integration

Over 3 to 6 months, the implant fuses with your jawbone through a natural process called osseointegration. You continue life as normal during this time.

Step 4

Crown Fitting

Once healed, your custom PFM/Zirconia crown is attached. It looks and functions like a natural tooth — eat, speak, and smile with full confidence.

Not Enough Bone? That Is Not a Barrier.

Some patients who have been missing teeth for a while may have experienced jawbone loss. If your bone density is insufficient to support an implant, a bone graft can rebuild the foundation — making implant placement possible even in complex cases. Bone grafting is a safe, routine procedure and may also be Medisave claimable.

Upper Jaw Implants? You May Need a Sinus Lift.

If you are replacing teeth in the upper back jaw, there may not be enough bone between your jaw and the sinus cavity to support an implant. A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) gently raises the sinus membrane and places bone graft material underneath — creating the height needed for a stable implant. It is a safe, well-established procedure often performed alongside implant placement.

Dental Implant FAQs

Answers to the questions our patients ask most about dental implants in Singapore.

At Vera Dental, a single dental implant with crown costs from $499 out-of-pocket after Medisave — inclusive of consultation and CBCT imaging. The total treatment cost is approximately $2,449, with up to $1,950 claimable from Medisave for the surgical component. Across Singapore, dental implant costs generally range from $1,500 to $6,000 per tooth depending on the clinic, implant brand, and case complexity.
Yes. As a MOH Medisave-accredited clinic, Vera Dental can process Medisave claims for the surgical portion of dental implant treatment. You can claim up to $1,950 per implant. Singapore Citizens and PRs can use their own or an immediate family member's Medisave account. We handle all the paperwork — just bring the account holder's NRIC on the day of surgery.
Most patients report that implant surgery is less uncomfortable than a tooth extraction. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia, so you feel no pain during surgery. Post-operative soreness is typically mild and manageable with over-the-counter painkillers for a few days. At Vera Dental, we prioritise gentle techniques and provide thorough aftercare instructions.
With proper care, dental implants are built to last and can serve you well for many years. The titanium fixture fuses with your jawbone through osseointegration, creating a strong and stable foundation. The crown on top may need replacement over time due to normal wear. How long your implant lasts depends on your oral hygiene habits, regular dental check-ups, and lifestyle factors like diet.
A dental implant replaces the entire tooth independently — from root to crown — without touching neighbouring teeth. A bridge requires filing down the healthy teeth on either side to anchor the replacement. Implants preserve jawbone health, are built for long-term durability, and feel like natural teeth. Bridges are quicker to complete but may need replacement sooner and do not prevent bone loss.
The full process takes 3 to 6 months. Implant placement surgery takes about 1 hour per implant. After surgery, 3–6 months of healing allows the implant to fuse with your jawbone (osseointegration). The final crown is then fitted in a short appointment.
There is no upper age limit for dental implants. As long as you are in reasonable general health and have sufficient jawbone to support the implant, age is not a barrier. Many of our patients are in their 60s and 70s. If bone density is a concern, bone grafting can be performed to prepare the jawbone for implant placement.
In the first few days after surgery, stick to soft foods like porridge, soup, yoghurt, and scrambled eggs. Avoid hot food and drinks for the first 24 hours. After the first week, you can gradually reintroduce firmer foods. Once your permanent crown is fitted, you can eat normally — including your favourite hawker food — with no dietary restrictions.
